Gold Spotted Mug

Gold Spotted Mug

Supplies you'll need
glass paint pen by DecoArt (3.99 without coupon)
white mug (3.99)

Ever since I saw this idea on pinterest, I loved it! So I decided to give it a go. But anyone who REALLY knows me, knows that I hate directions and try to figure everything out on my own. I know I'm crazy, but it's my thing ;)
So I started at Hobby Lobby ( I LOVE this place!) and found a glass paint marker by DecoArt that can be used on many surfaces. I have really been digging gold lately, so I was very thankful that I found it in stock. And I was able to use a coupon, so that brought the cost of the pen down. I found the mug at Target (they have a ton of white dishes in right now that would be perfect for this project).

First, I cleaned the mug with a damp cloth and let air dry for about a minute.
Following the directions, I made sure that I had enough paint on the tip of the pen. Holding the mug steady with my other hand, I started by placing the tip of the paint pen on the surface of the mug and slowly went around in circles until the spot was as big as I wanted it. Continue around your mug until you have enough spots. You can customize the size of the spots. I made all my spots different sizes, but it would also look great if they were all the same size.

When you have finished painting, let air dry for 4 hours then bake at 375 for 40 minutes. Let cool in non-preheated oven for permanency. Allow to cool with oven door open. I timed this so I could bake it after the boys were in bed, and I left the door open overnight.
Have fun!

Flea Markets Galore

I'm so bummed that I didn't get to take any pics of our booth on Saturday! The pics below are from Friday when we were indoors due to rain.

I want to apologize for not keeping up with the blog, my mom and I have been super busy with these last two flea markets. We have so much fun doing them, that it hardly seems like work. As you know from the last blog entry, we vended at the Urban Barn this last weekend for the first time. We had a blast getting to know the other venders and we sold a lot of stuff! Yay! We will definitly be adding this flea market to our monthly visits! Thank you to those of you who came to support us, it means the world to us!

Ivy St. Flea Market

My mom and I had such a great time at the show this last Saturday. We were made for this. We LOVE going to these shows as customers and vendors. It's such a blessing to be able to do something we love so much. This last show was a success, as they all are at the Ivy St. Flea Market. The weather was great and there was a steady flow of people to keep us on our toes.
Blue Eyed Buffalo will be at the Urban Barn in Escondido this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8th and 9th. We would love to add this show to our monthly flea market visits, so we are hoping that it goes really well. If you are in the area, please stop by and say hello.

Playroom Art Frames

Supplies Needed
Frames
Fabric
Paint
Scissors
Sandpaper
Large clips
Particle board
Hot glue gun
Electric saw

-First, you will want to find frames that are large enough to fit your child's artwork
(I found these frames at a local thrift store for just a couple of dollars each)
-Paint frames desired color
-After the paint has dried, lightly distress edges with sandpaper

-Measure the inside of the frame(where the glass would be)
-cut particle board according to those measurements
(if you don't have a saw, your local hardware store may be able to cut it for you for a fee)

-Place fabric face down and put board on top
-Cut fabric 1 1/2 inches greater than the size of the board
-With your glue gun, put a line of glue on one side of the board and press fabric down
-Repeat on opposite side, pulling fabric lightly but firmly
-Repeat on other two sides with the same technique

-Once glue has dried, put frame face down on table
-Put a line of glue on all four sides of the inside of the frame and press board into frame
-This step must be done quickly as the glue dries very quickly
-Once secured, I put an extra bit of glue around the backside where the frame and fabric meet for added strength

-Turn frame around, so you are looking at the front
-With your clip in hand, put glue on the back. I covered the back of the magnet completely. I choose the one with the magnetic back so it would be easier to glue down
-Center the clip and press firmly into place (this must also be done quickly)
-Hang and enjoy!

Giant Hair Bow

what you will need
fabric
needle and thread
sewing machine
hair clip

-Select your fabric
-Cut an 8 in. by 8 in. square
-Cut a 3 in. by 8 in. piece in the same fabric
(Be mindful if you are using a directional fabric)

-Fold small piece of fabric in half with wrong sides facing out. Sew both sides, leaving the end open. Turn right side out and tuck ends in and top stitch closed.
-Fold 8 inch square in half with wrong sides facing out. Sew sides first and then sew the bottom, leaving about 2 inches for turning. Turn right side out, making sure that all your corners are poked out. Tuck in and top stitch closed.

-Iron your pieces flat
-Working with the large piece, turn horizontal and pinch a couple of small pieces in the middle of the fabric. Tack down with a couple of stitches from the sewing machine.

-After wrapping the small piece around the center of the bow, turn around and thread the hair clip on. Secure hair clip and bow together with thread and needle. For extra security, I used a dab of hot glue where needed.

And....Wahla!

Super cute and super easy!
Enjoy your new bow!

New Year, New Blog

I have been thinking of starting a blog for about a year now, and I finally decided this morning that now is as good as ever. I will admit that I have been quite intimidated by the unknown. I know that this blog will be an adventure that I can look back on and show my kids one day. I am excited for what 2013 will bring!
